When a screenwriter embarks on a journey to write a screenplay, a lot of screenwriters, including producers, in the interest of making money, forget that people really do not want you to reinvent the wheel, and that was something I learnt from attending the New York Film Academy. Other questions were asked that I've never really come across before include: 1) Why is this story happening to this type of protagonist? i.e. Does the protagonist need to learn something because of the events that unfold in the story? 2). How is this your story? Finally, to add my own question, what's so unique about this story that sets this apart from other writers? I've been reading a lot of screenplays and I can see that a lot of writers do not think about some of this stuff.

I've read quite a few books on how to write a screenplay and how to make your screenplay great, but I will never forget the piece of advice I was given back in 2012, back in community college when I took my first, in class screenwriting course. My professor said to me (and I quote): "Always use dynamic, active verbs". This was anytime you write out your descriptions. Because of the very nature of screenplays, you have to economise. Make every word you type count. Ask yourself: How can I make this sentence even shorter? Those were the key lessons I learnt.

I am passionate about writing for Television because, with each episode, you can allow your characters to grow and develop over the course of any number of seasons you have planned for the show. For Feature and Short Films, you have less time for character development. This is why I will concentrate less on Feature Films like some of the other writers. I see and hear a lot of readers and critics complaining that there's not enough character development when they critic a blockbuster released by one of the major studios in America. This is because they do not fully understand or grasp the concept that it is a challenge for a writer and a filmmaker to do character development within a span of two or two and a half hours. However, if you were someone like Peter Jackson (The Lord of Rings Trilogy) or Quentin Tarantino, you have the luxury of stretching the film out to like three hours and make those hours count for your audience and or fans.

Inside the Fantasy Genre, I have chosen to write for the supernatural sub-genre because the supernatural world exists with its own intriguing rules, beings and happenings - including the supernatural powers that come with a territory. The supernatural world also offers an action sequence separately of the action sequences we see and know in the action film genre.  The typical, supernatural creatures I'd like to include in screenplays are Witches, Warlocks, Demons, Gods, Demi-Gods, and possibly, Mermaids and Merman.
